This destination wedding at The Wilds venue is a must-see! Kendall and Ryan met at Indiana University in Bloomington and returned to be wed at their alma mater. Beautifully captured by Courtney Sinclair Photography, Kendall and Ryan took time for their engagement photo session on the IU campus that brought them together before their destination wedding at The Wilds venue.

First, the culmination of destination wedding planning at The Wilds venue started with unforgettable memories with loved ones. Kendall’s preparation in our light-filled bridal suite involved three poignant moments. First, bridal gown finishing touches by Ryan’s mother, caring for the bride in the place of Kendall’s late mother. Then a joyous pair of first looks, starting with her bridesmaids! The finishing touch was a first look with the father of the bride, taking in a quiet moment together before the outdoor wedding ceremony. Our bridal suite is a tranquil space to start your wedding day with your own heartfelt moments.

There is nothing better than getting to your wedding day without a worry! For Kendall and Ryan, with the best teams taking care of every need, this pair truly was able to soak in this day with each other and their loved ones.
With a wedding color palette of sage, slate blue, blush, and grey, the natural beauty of The Wilds venue was accentuated and truly shone brilliantly. With wedding flowers by For The Beauty Floral, an air of whimsy and understated beauty created exceptional focal points throughout the wedding party’s bouquets and boutonnieres, the ceremony decor and the cocktail hour and reception spaces. Outfitting was timeless for the groomsmen as well in grey suits, anchored by a custom-made groom’s suit for Ryan as a classic keepsake.
Formal wedding party portraits took place around the grounds of The Wilds, surrounded by the natural beauty of Brown County which captured the heart of our couple since they first visited. The blend of stunning outdoor spaces merged with the easy elegance of each entertaining space kept these two assured that they were going to have the perfect wedding day at The Wilds venue.
For ultra-easy planning at their destination wedding venue, Kendall and Ryan leaned into the decor provided by The Wilds. Did we mention it’s included free of charge! With classic touch-points in a beautiful Indiana location, the design was easy and timeless, utilizing our delicate golden lanterns and table greenery to accent the setting. A decadent variety of desserts from Feast in Bloomington made a charming spread for the guests and couple to enjoy throughout the evening’s wedding reception gathering.
With a full bridal party of Indiana University and Purdue alumni, this wedding reception entrance couldn’t have been filled with more school pride. Each bridesmaid and groomsman strutted in wearing their college accessories, followed by Kendall and Ryan in their IU best. The room was glowing with light and the laughter of their guests with this one-of-a-kind party kickoff! We love being a destination wedding venue for graduates returning to Indiana to celebrate the start of their marriages.
For their memorable destination wedding at The Wilds, Kendall and Ryan’s love for their families was at the core of their reception plans. During the bride and groom’s first dance, the groom’s father sang to guitar being played by one of the groom’s brothers. During each dance with their parents, a slideshow played through photos from their lives to honor those who brought them to this day. From the couple regarding this important detail:
We played slideshows during the father/bride and mother/groom dance of pictures of us and our families, specifically our parents, throughout our lives. We wanted to show our appreciation to our parents and honor Kendall’s late mother, because without them we wouldn’t be where we are today.Kendall and Ryan
The joy and warm conversations continued throughout the wedding reception. Guests were able to float between our venue’s beautiful reception hall and the airy patio with glowing string lights and multiple fireplaces as the sun set on the Brown County Indiana hills.
This Chicago couple brought the city flair to their destination wedding at The Wilds wedding venue. A must-have for Kendall and Ryan was a hot dog cart to bring the party back to the city that they love and call home. The Complete Weddings and Events DJ kept the energetic party going with reception dance music into the evening for this sweet pair and their loved ones, closing out this exceptional evening with good eats and big smiles.
Our biggest piece of advice for other couples is to enjoy the process with wedding planning. It’s ok to disagree throughout, but it’s important to find a common ground and each make compromises to make the day special for you both. Slow down, enjoy every moment, and don’t let the napkin color stress you out. Ultimately, the little details of the day won’t matter to you, because it is your marriage that is the final goal.Kendall and Ryan
