Charming DIY details bring this Indian American Wedding magically to life
Sarah and Harsh met in Bloomington, IN and to honor their beginnings they chose to host their beautiful Indian American wedding where it all began! The pandemic led to a delay of a year, but this bride and groom used the time to build their dream celebration.
With handmade and carefully curated items, you won’t want to miss this inspiring fusion wedding at The Wilds venue!
Gathering the perfect details for their wedding
To begin, we have to admire Sarah and Harsh’s details. The couple had to postpone their wedding for a year, but they didn’t waste a moment of it. The time provided them the opportunity to order stunning details and decor from India. The opulent touches throughout their outfitting and wedding decor are a treat for the eyes!
In addition, Sarah got crafty with some heartfelt DIY touches. Motifs of elephants (the brides favorite animals) can be found all around. One of our favorite inclusions was a pair of floral sculptures of the noble creatures made by Sarah and her planner. Her grandfather passed away a month before the wedding, so one guarded his cap as a memorial to him.
Touches of gold carried through the lanterns and votives made the day sparkle. Lush and vibrant florals by I Do Flowers were a must for this bride. The sumptuous color palette was perfect for this energetic Indian American Wedding at The Wilds venue in Indianal.l/!
Traditional Indian outfitting with a twist
This couple’s goal for the styling of their wedding was traditional Indian with personal pops.
Sarah’s ceremony outfitting was a beautifully embroidered pink lehenga. The hue stayed true to her love of pink while remaining within the traditional red color family for the bridal outfit. She and her bridesmaids were adorned in intricate henna, symbolizing good health and prosperity in marriage. The bridesmaids wore lehenga’s in gold and vibrant aqua, a perfect complement to the bride and her daughter’s pink ensembles.
Harsh looked noble and handsome in a traditional sherwani with a ceremonial sword, symbolizing the protection of his family. His groomsmen wore a softened version of the ladies’ color palette in gold and a lighter aqua.
The pair enjoyed a quiet moment together in a first look prior to the outdoor wedding ceremony.
Indian and American Culture Beautifully Blended
When Sarah and Harsh were looking for their venue, they knew they wanted a space with beautiful indoor and outdoor options. We were thrilled to be their choice for such a beautiful Indian American wedding! We are thrilled about the peace of mind that our wedding venue brings our couples.
However, the weather was no concern on their wedding day. The sunny celebration started with the groom’s baraat procession. His jubilant entrance to the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage prompted smiles all around. Joyful singing and dancing followed on his way to the outdoor ceremony pavilion.
Following a traditional Indian ceremony, the two were officially wed and it was time to continue the celebration!
Celebrating the love of family, near and far
Love of family was at the core of this couples’ formal portraits, beautifully captured by Icarus Photography.
A new official trio, they captured portraits with their daughter which absolutely delights our hearts!
We love Harsh’s way of keeping his family close. Due to international travel restrictions at the time, his family wasn’t able to join the celebration. He pinned a trio of their portraits to his jacket pocket, a truly meaningful touch as he kept them close to his heart. The couple are looking forward to traveling to India to celebrate with Harsh’s family as soon as possible.
An Indian American Reception to remember
A favorite moment for the couple was incorporating garba into their reception. Garba is a form of dance that originates from Harsh’s home state in India. In a perfect blend of Indian and American wedding traditions, everyone was invited to join. Guests enjoyed partaking in a dance that they already knew and loved or as a way of trying something new, and the joy was infectious.
The bride reflects fondly on the close of the evening. Their guests had gone to enjoy the cool air on our patio space, and Sarah and Harsh found themselves in quiet privacy. The two shared one last dance together alone in the great room, a perfect ending to an incredible celebration.
